Manic Monday Bonus--Could It Be...A Clue?!?

We haven't checked in with any Golden Age detectives for awhile.

How about...

Man, a dead "club executive?" How will Inspector Dayton ever crack this case?!?

A clue? What kind of clue?!?

OK, there are clues, and there are CLUES. This is the latter.

Geez, the victim's name and everything?!? That's one hell of a clue...

But, you'd better read the fine print in any murder catalogue!

Well, actually, not so much. Whule Dayton sets up a sting and puts away the local Murder Inc., story bothers to tell us a) who actually killed Cantarola; b) who hired the killer...or was Cantarola one of those who had someone else killed, and failed to pay up within 20 days?; c) why the killer was bone-headed as to leave his "murder catalogue" at the scene of the crime, complete with victims' names and the phone number for assassin HQ.

But what's more interesting may be the prices in the Sears Crime Book:

Really? It costs three times as much to drown someone as to stab them? And killing someone in an automobile crash is only 15 bucks?!? Even accounting for inflation, those prices are incredible!! No wonder brink and mortar murder stores went out of business!!!

From Jumbo Comics #25 (1941)

Even with inflation... it probably cost more to print the catalogue!

That is one poor business man!
